A couple of weekends ago, I was able to take a trip to Mexico to celebrate a joint birthday party. Mexicali, to be exact. The last time I was in Mexico was on a family vacation when I was still in middle school. So yeah, things have changed. Apparently, now it is best to have a passport to cross? Now, before you go and pass judgment. No, I do not have a passport...it is now on my to-do list.
Now if you know me, I tend to stress out easily. Everyone kept telling me that all I needed was an ID and birth certificate. I took to Google to see if this is true...and if you have the same question, it is true, that is all you need. If you are traveling by land. Airport? You need a passport. Weird.
So we left late morning to Mexicali, I wasn't quite sure what to expect seeing as I haven't been in forever. When we drove in, it was pretty familiar. People driving in and leaving, people selling things on the side, and then the city itself. One thing I hate is driving in Dallas, Mexicali drivers are on a whole other level. Stop signs are yield if you want and speed limits I believe don't exist. Luckily I didn't have to drive.
When we got to our destination, we immediately went to eat. We stopped at a busy taco shop and sat down. We ordered immediately, I forgot the name, but it was a massive quesadilla and real Mexican Coca-Cola. They brought out this huge trey of different salsas and toppings. When I say this food was amazing is an understatement. It was fresh and full of flavor. After we ate, I took a moment and really took in the culture that was around me. I know this is their everyday life, but it felt great to be a part of it.
The next day we started with decorating the venue. The theme was a Mexican Fiesta. Lots of colors, Corona bottle centerpieces, and a dessert table were all included. I was put in charge of setting up the dessert table and I thought I did a pretty good job.
When it came time for the party to start it did not disappoint. Now I was told that they liked to drink tequila, this was an understatement. Almost every table had some type of tequila and putting the shot glasses on the table before hand made perfect sense. Even during the party, I kept seeing people bring in bottles of Tequila.
Again, the food was amazing, the band was great, and this group of great people, love to dance. Now, of course, I don't like to dance unless I have a little liquid courage. Well, by the end of the night, I was dancing and had a purple flower attached to my head.

If you have old furniture, do not throw it out, just repurpose it! This blog shows you 5 easy steps to making my side table look new. The supplies were affordable and took me 30 minutes to do.
Just a quick check-in with everyone and reevaluating where to take this blog. I am looking forward to the future of where this is going and what is coming up. Stay tuned.
This post is about starting the new year with a different mindset. Not giving up on things is a big problem or letting things just happen. I need to not expect overnight changes and will take the necessary steps to reach my goals.
