I'm feeling 32...
Birthday Shenanigans
Well, my birthday has come and gone. I could not have been happier with the weekend. Phone calls, Facebook messages, and texts were very much appreciated by all of my friends and family. It was a very long weekend but well worth it.
Friday started out with watching both semi-final sessions of the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships. The first session had my favorite two teams, LSU & UCLA. So for me, this was the most exciting of the day. Then for lunch, we went to one of the best places on Earth...Chimy's. Had a couple of drinks and of course their green chile chicken nachos. We saw the second session and of course, OU came out on top and one of the up and coming programs Denver rounded out the Flipping Four.
Saturday we went to the Rustic for brunch. Everyone said the brunch was good, but the whole brunch set up was weird. I ended up getting a salad...well I ordered a salad...it never came. But it really wasn't a biggie when everyone else had a good time. That was good enough for me. We, of course, had to make a pit stop at Chimy's where we met some other friends before heading off the Championships. OU pretty much coasted through the entire competition, but LSU was on point the entire time and I could not have been happier with them finishing in 2nd place. After, we were able to watch the live Gymcastic show..if you are a gymnastics fan and are not listening to this podcast...one your weird...two go listen! It was a good time and Alicia Sacramone, the special guest, made for a hilarious time.
If you haven't guessed it yet, we ended up at the Eagle. It was good seeing people and as always had an amazing time. Sunday we were able to have brunch at the Katy Trail Icehouse and celebrate one of my good friend's birthdays. We walked over to Easter in the Park after since it was right down the street. One thing I like about this event is that you see families both gay and straight. It was a beautiful day and to see everyone there brought a little smile to my face. But then it got hot and had to go to "church", then I was a little bit of a rebel and had to finish my birthday weekend at the Eagle.
All in all, it was a great weekend spent with some of the best people. I have already started to make some changes in my life for the better and I cannot wait to see what this next year holds.
