Bachelorette Party in New OrleansBachelorette Party in New Orleans
True friendships are really hard to find. I am very fortunate enough to have made some that I believe will last a lifetime. A few weeks ago I was able to celebrate a friends bachelorette party in New Orleans. It was a small group, but these girls sure know how to have a good time!
We decided to drive down Friday morning and even though I will probably never want to drive there again, it was a great time. We, of course, made a stop at Buccees to get snacks for the road and started the 8-hourish drive. The plan for Friday was to get to the Airbnb and immediately get hurricanes for a Vampire/Ghost/Haunted tour...I still don’t know what the official name was. When we checked in, we were told that it was the official start of Mardi Gras, in true fashion the roads were blocked and the streets were lined for the first parade.
FYI: if you sign up for a tour, make sure you are on time, they will leave you. We did not make the tour. So we decided to go to Bourbon St. and get some food, we stopped at Willie’s Chicken Shack where we got the hurricanes and I am pretty sure it was the best chicken strips I have ever had, I would dare say..better than Chicken Express.
After that, we went to the bar next door and made it just in time to watch a twerking contest...Shout out to the girl from Dallas who won! I think at this point the drive and being up early started getting to us and we decided to go somewhere we could enjoy the rest of the night. So, of course, we went to a gay bar. This one was very chill and we were able to sit on the balcony and have some drinks.
The next day started off with getting brunch at The Ruby Slipper, FYI - make sure you have the right location when you get an Uber, my bad, but there is like 6 locations. This is probably the best brunch I have ever had, except they didn't have Dr. Pepper. But I am not that bitter, the food definitely made up for it and the Bloody Mary. We decided to walk it off in the French Quarter. There is something magical about that place. With the performers, artists, and scenery it definitely has an energy to it. We took a break and stopped to get coffee and beignets at Cafe du Monde and definitely had a conversation with an older couple about how we need to invest in the weed industry. After that, we walked around a little more and decided to go back to the Airbnb to get ready for the night.
In traditional Bachelorette Party fashion, a strip show was definitely on the agenda. As we were getting ready we looked to see where it was and found out that it was at another gay bar. Well, I can’t go into too many details, but the show was definitely worth it and the staff at Mags 940 was nothing short of incredible.
All in all this trip was one for the books, it made me realize that even if I don’t see or talk to these girls all the time, we will always be here for each other and will never skip a beat. I can’t wait for our next trip...Mardi Gras 2020?
